Sunday was Mother’s day, at least from what was visible on social media, there were messages scattered everywhere, beautiful some tear jerking posts about Mothers and so many cute pictures that kept people going “aww..” It was really heartwarming to see such beautiful messages from people to their Moms, tears were shed because of some posts.
It was sweet but it was something that one had to think more about, do we need to wait for special occasions like those to celebrate our Mother’s love? A dinner or party on her birthday, a text message/ email on Mother’s day, those things.
What have your done for your Mother since you became old enough and capable of doing things for that could always make her smile? It is not always about material things, it is well known that when you give your mother something no matter how small or not pricey, she is going to cherish it for as long as she lives. There are those who have bought their Moms cars, built houses even taken them for overseas trips but other than that, they are rarely visible in her life.
I recently heard a little boy tell his Mother while pointing at a huge apartment complex in Munyonyo “Mama, eyo gyengenda okuzimbira…” meaning “Mom, that one, is what I will build for you…” the boy did not look like he was even above Four years old but hearing that was just too sweet. When
we are younger, your Mom is your whole world, when you grow older things get a little complicated especially on the side of girls, you fight a lot with your Mother and the boys get even closer to her. By the way being a mother isn’t just about birthing a child, it is about nurturing them, raising them and making someone out of those little bundles of joy, any woman that does that for you, is a mother.
Don’t just stop at sending her messages or remembering her on the birthday, go take that wonderful woman out maybe for shopping, dinner, cook her something, and make her feel appreciated whenever you get the chance to, there are people who wish they still had their Moms with them or those who wish they had seen their Moms.
To the strong, beautiful and wonderful Mothers out there, we appreciate and love you for everything you do just to show how much you love your children, to the ones that passed away, May God rest your souls in eternal peace.
Nothing in this world beats a mother’s love.
