Lent is almost halfway through, this auspicious part of the year when Christian fast ( going a period of time without consumption of food), they choose something and fast against it for 40 days and nights like Jesus did in the Bible. Jesus was tested by the devil during this time but he stood by his faith and it through his time in the desert without succumbing to the devil’s whims.
Now my dear faithful, have you been keeping your promise to God? Are you using this period of time to get even closer to God? Or are you using this time to diet and lose some weight?
The purpose of lent is to help us come to terms with our situations whether good or bad, to help us rebuild what is broken, strength what had become too weak and bring us close to the Most High.
Whatever you are fasting for or against, a couple of friends I know are off Twitter because that was there decision and they have kept to it, others are keeping away from sex.
Simple question is; do we always have to wait for certain seasons to rebuild or strengthen our relationships with God? What is lent to you? Does it actually mean a thing to you? As humans we are naturally selfish creatures but if I am right, God only requires a few minutes of your day where you can talk to him, thank him for everything. But we wait for the times when everything is haywire, when the World seems like its caving in on
us and we have nowhere to go or someone we can
turn to and trust with our situations, that is when we remember God exists, we run to our knees, cry out, beg for every form of help from him, if he takes too long to give us what we want, we lose hope and instead
start complaining. When he finally answers us and situations change for the better, we rejoice, enjoy the good times, then he is forgotten.
As we celebrate this season we should put in mind that God should always be first in our lives because through him, we are who we are.
